Lily Tries the Free Autumn Activity Pack | Family Fun at Home

There’s something really special about sitting down with Lily to try out our Autumn Activity Pack. For anyone new here, this is one of the free printable packs you receive when you subscribe to Suitcase & Scrapbook. They’re designed to make family time simple, creative, and mindful — giving children something engaging to do while helping parents feel like they’re making the most of each season.
Lily took her role very seriously — she treats every new pack like her own little project — and I love watching how focused she becomes. These packs are great way of spending time together, helping us slow down, talk, and get creative after busy weeks.
Lately, Lily’s been getting really into creative writing, which makes me so proud. She has such a vivid imagination — full of twists, funny details, and heart. Just like me when I was her age, her spelling sometimes gets in the way, but her stories are magic.
That’s one of the reasons I love designing these packs — they combine creative fun with genuine educational value, helping children practise writing, mindfulness, and problem-solving in a way that doesn’t feel like “work.”
🍁 Leaf Matching and Crafts
We started with the leaf-matching game, which I thought would last five minutes… but Lily turned it into a full-on challenge. She’s surprisingly observant and spotted tiny differences I completely missed — clearly inherited her teacher mum’s attention to detail!
Next, we’re planning to make a leaf hedgehog, using real leaves for spikes, and maybe a few more leafy decorations for the house. These activities make the pack feel more than just a worksheet — they spark conversation, creativity, and laughter.

🎨 Mindful Colouring
The colouring pages were another instant hit. Lily and I both love colouring — it’s one of those rare, calm moments where we sit side by side, chatting about school, friends, and life. The mindfulness colouring pages are designed to encourage exactly that — quiet focus, creativity, and emotional connection. I’ve found it’s often when we’re colouring together that Lily opens up the most.
🌿 Autumn Adventures
We’re lucky to be surrounded by some beautiful autumn walks, so we took the pack with us to (insert park name) for the scavenger hunt. It was such a hit. We managed to tick off everything except the squirrel and hedgehog. Noah, ever the determined one, insisted we go knocking on doors to find an ornament version!
Barney thought the whole thing was a dream — bounding through leaves, tail wagging, completely in his element. The scavenger hunts are a perfect reminder that learning and play can happen anywhere — even in muddy boots and raincoats.

🧁 Baking Together
Next up was the baking challenge, which I’ll admit I approached with caution. I’m a terrible baker — the kind who somehow ends up with flour in her hair and slightly crispy cupcakes. Lily’s far more patient than I am, though I still can’t quite trust her with the egg cracking just yet!
The baking activities in the packs are simple on purpose, so families like ours (with limited patience and small attention spans!) can actually enjoy the process. Even if things go wrong, it’s part of the fun — and the smell of something homemade always makes the house feel warm and happy.

✏️ Creative Writing and Connection

Lily’s Opinion
‘I really enjoyed learning about different types of leaves. I feel like I will always notice which tree is which on our walks. The leaf biscuits were yummy too!’

Final Thoughts
This Autumn Pack has genuinely given us a great weekend focus — full of creativity, connection, and a few giggles at my baking disasters. It’s reminded me why I started Suitcase & Scrapbook in the first place — to help families slow down, make memories, and turn simple moments into something special.
