Lincolnshire – Family Caravan Holiday Review (Sunnydale Caravan Park, Park Dean) – Beaches Galore!

The Details

We stayed at Sunnydale Holiday Park (Parkdean), just a short drive from Cleethorpes, Mablethorpe and Skegness — ideal for exploring Lincolnshire’s east coast. The caravan itself was basic but clean, with everything we needed, and we were lucky to be right next to the playground (a big win for the kids!). The park was a little quieter than others we’ve visited, but that actually made it really relaxing — perfect after a busy term.

Louth & Hubbard’s Hills – Peaceful Countryside Days

(10 min dive)

Louth is such a lovely little market town — cobbled streets, friendly locals, and a few hidden gems to browse. Nearby Hubbard’s Hills is a beautiful countryside park with picnic spots, streams and open space for the kids and dog to run free. It felt like the perfect way to slow down and enjoy some proper fresh air.

Cleethorpes – Crabbing, Mini Golf & Beach Fun

(20 mins, 10 miles)

Tickets: £4.50 pp

Cleethorpes ended up being our favourite day. The beach is gorgeous, with soft sand and plenty of space. We went crabbing (and found eleven jellyfish one day!), hired deckchairs for £2, rode the Cleethorpes Light Railway (£15) and finished with a round of mini golf before spending far too long in the arcades.

Is there anything better than chilling with a book as the kids play on the sand?

Mablethorpe – Seaside Funfair & Great Food

(30 mins, 15 miles)

Mablethorpe offered a nice mix of shops, amusements and a lovely beach. The kids loved the funfair on the sands — reasonably priced and not too busy. We also found a brilliant Italian buffet restaurant where they made pizzas fresh to order.

Skegness – Big Days Out

(50 mins, 27 miles)

£16 adult £13 child, Noah free)

Skegness is definitely the busiest of the Lincolnshire resorts, but it has loads to do. We visited the Sea Life Aquarium and the Dinosaur Adventure attraction nearby, which both went down brilliantly with the kids. When you have finished the have a great playgym too; it served most amazing cakes! After this we walked around the array of shops and finished the day off at Pirates Cove — easily one of the best seaside chippies we’ve ever had.

The joy of a carousel will never grow old.

Final Thoughts

If you’re looking for a classic UK beach holiday, Lincolnshire is a wonderful choice. Everything is close by — beaches, towns, countryside walks — making it easy to explore without long drives.

Sunnydale was a great, affordable base and the whole area felt relaxed and family-friendly. It might not have the buzz of Devon or Cornwall, but if you want sand, sea, and simple fun, Lincolnshire is the place to be.
