Our Egypt Family Holiday Review: Charmillion Club Hotel: Amazing Staff

The Details

Back in August 2024 we stayed at the Charmillion Club Resort in Sharm El Sheikh, which is part of a group of three sister hotels. One of the highlights was that we could wander into the other resorts for food, shopping, and entertainment. It gave the trip a lot more variety, and we loved the freedom to mix things up.

We booked his based on that fact that it was a steal at £1900 for the last week in August. It had great reviews on Tripadvisor and looked amazing! Nethertheless, we were somewhat apprehensive about how the kids (2 and 7) would cope in such extreme heat!

🛏 The Hotel & Rooms

Our room was probably the best hotel room we’ve ever stayed in – spacious, spotless, and the comfiest bed ever (if I could’ve packed it in my suitcase, I would!). The staff were fantastic too – always helpful, always smiling, and genuinely caring. Egyptians in general were some of the friendliest people we’ve met on holiday.

🍴 Food & Restaurants

The buffet food was consistently lovely, with plenty of choice. On top of that, we got to choose two à la carte restaurants:

Sushi – hands down our favourite, absolutely delicious. It was very immersive. The chef got the kids involved as he cooked.

Seafood – Wow, just amazing, the best seafood we have ever had.

The variety made it feel like more than just “resort food.”

The best seafood I have ever eaten!

🌊 Pools, Beach & Spa

The beach was beautiful – soft sand, turquoise water, everything you picture for the Red Sea. There was a pier that people could snorkel off, you were able to see so many different types of fish.

Several swimming pools with lifeguards on constant watch gave real peace of mind as parents.

The spa was amazing. I booked a package of 3 treatments: I went twice, Jonny once. The pre-treatment hot tub was bliss, and the full-body massage was just what I needed.

The cleanest beach we have ever been to.

🎉 Entertainment

Daytime: foam parties, pool activities, even a guy flying over the water with jets strapped to his feet – the kids were mesmerised!

Kids Club: activities during the day and fun things like pizza-making kept them busy.

Evenings: entertainment was a bit hit-and-miss and often quite late. We preferred relaxing in the bar with live music or acoustic sets – much more our pace.

🛍 Trips & Extras

We visited Soho Square, which was a real highlight – twinkling lights everywhere, fountains that came alive in a magical show each evening, and a lovely 3-course Italian meal at a great price. I’d love to go back there just for the food and atmosphere.

☀️ Weather & Family Experience

We travelled in August – it was very hot, but surprisingly, the kids didn’t complain once. The only real struggle was the flight: Noah was still on my knee, which was hard work, and on the way home both kids ended up asleep in a heap (at one point, one was even in the footwell!).

One long journey home.

Cost – (Family of 4, August, 7 Days all inclusive)

Hotel and Flights: £1900 (Booked a year in advance in Easyjet sales, free kid’s place and £200 off offer). Noah was not quite two so we didn’t pay for his flight, but he had no seat on the plane. £50 for airport parking.

Attractions: Soho Square, drinks a lovely meal and taxi to and from (£90)

Food: Already accounted for in the all inclusive.

Extras: We treat ourselves to a separate treatment spa package at £85 and I bought a few, very realistic, fake handbags: £100.

Total spend: £2,225 all in, including some special treats.

Final Thoughts

Would we go back?

Yes – 100%.

I’d happily return to the same hotel as a couple for a relaxing break (probably not in peak summer again though).

For families, it’s brilliant once your kids are slightly older – the waterpark looked amazing, but ours were a bit too young this time.

Memories don’t just happen – they are made.
